Injection molding of plastic components

At J. Krebs & Co., injection molding is at the core of our business. With over 65 years of experience, we are experts in producing plastic components for a wide range of industries. We deliver precise, scalable solutions to companies seeking reliable and efficient production—always with a focus on quality and fast execution. Our ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 certifications demonstrate our commitment to the highest standards of quality and consistency.

What is injection molding?

Injection molding is an efficient and precise manufacturing method for producing plastic components in both small and large volumes. The process involves heating plastic material and injecting it into a custom-made mold under high pressure. As the plastic cools and solidifies, it forms the final part with high precision and consistent quality.

At Krebs & Co we are experts in injection molding, providing tailored solutions for a wide range of industries. Whether you require robust technical components or aesthetically refined plastic parts, we guarantee high quality, precision, and efficiency throughout the entire process.

FAQ

How much does injection molding cost?

The cost of injection molding varies depending on factors such as the complexity of the mold, material selection, production volume, and any post-processing requirements. To get an accurate price, you can contact us at krebs@krebs-co.dk.

The design and manufacturing of the mold typically takes 6 to 16 weeks, depending on complexity and requirements. Once the mold is ready, each production cycle usually takes between 5 seconds and 5 minutes, depending on the size, material, and complexity of the part.

A wide range of different materials can be used in injection molding. Some of the most common materials for injection molding are as follows:

  • PP (Polypropylene) – Lightweight, flexible, and chemical-resistant. Used for packaging, automotive components.
  • PE (Polyethylene – LDPE/HDPE) – Durable and chemical-resistant. Commonly used in bottles, containers, and piping.
  • ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) – Impact-resistant, strong, and easy to process. Used in toys and electronics.
  • PS (Polystyrene) – Lightweight and rigid, can be transparent. Used for packaging and disposable products.
  • PA (Nylon/Polyamide) – Wear-resistant and temperature-resistant. Ideal for gears and mechanical components.
  • PC (Polycarbonate) – Extremely impact-resistant and transparent. Used for protective eyewear and electronics.
  • POM (Polyoxymethylene/Acetal) – High precision and low friction. Used in gears and bearings.
  • PMMA (Acrylic) – Transparent and impact-resistant. Used in light covers and display screens.
  • PPS (Polyphenylene Sulfide) – High temperature and chemical resistance.
  • PEEK (Polyetheretherketone) – Exceptionally strong, with heat resistance up to 250°C. Used in medical and aerospace applications.

In addition, we injection mold using biodegradable plastics such as:

  • PLA (Polylactic Acid) – Bio-based and compostable. Used for packaging and disposable products.
  • PHA (Polyhydroxyalkanoates) – Naturally biodegradable, strong, and flexible. Ideal for medical and packaging applications.
  • PHBH (Polyhydroxybutyrate-co-hydroxyhexanoate) – Highly biodegradable, suitable for food packaging and single-use products.
